Accomplishments
He started his first confectionary businessat the age of 19.After failing at two businesses, he started the Lancaster Caramel Company at the age of 30, which was his first of many successes.After selling this company in 1900, he created the Hershey Chocolate Company...and the Hershey Bar!He established the Milton Hershey School Trust, the Hershey Foundation, and the Penn State Hershey Medical Center to help others!By the 1920's Milton Hershey had the largest chocolate factory in the world, a thriving model company town, and building projects that included a bank, community swimming pool, amusement park and multiple golf courses.
Lasting Impact
Milton Hershey has influenced my life because he was a successful businessman, a generous philanthropist, and he had a love for chocolate!

Milton Snavely Hershey was born in Derry Township, Pa. in 1857 He dropped out of school in fourth grade to help out on the family farm.In 1876, he moved to Philadelphia to start first confectionary business.After moving to many cities, he settled in Lancaster in 1887 to start his first successful business. He married Catherine "Kitty" Sweeney in 1898. In 1903, he started the Hershey Chocolate Company.Because Kitty and Milton Hershey couldn't have children, they decided to help others through philanthropy.Kitty died in 1915 and Milton in 1945...both from pneumonia.
