Description of the Didactic Sequence
Travelling is an enriching experience which opens the door to discovering new realities and to understanding the world from different points of view. To help us, the famous cartoon character Willy Fog is going to touch down in our 1º ESO class and send us on a journey around the entire world, relying on the latest advances in modes of transportation. As such, we are going to travel to various countries where out friend Willy Fog will set us challenges to overcome in order to get to know in depth the culture of our destination countries.Observation is a fundamental pillar of travelling, and so we will learn to understand descriptions and be capable of creating them ourselves, relying on the linguistic elements that our didactic session uses as content. We will go from an external discovery to an introspective one. When you know yourself is when you really know other realities. The activities set out for the pupils work thanks to the connecting thread, which is essential in order to present all the proposed objectives, skills and contents. The reference to websites that complement the activities helps to develop the great new technological skills.
ORIENTATION AND CONNECTING THEMEWilly Fog has come to visit us to teach us everything he learned when he made his famous trip around the world in 80 days. He will take us to the places that he liked most, in a record time of six days. We will get to know in detail the culture of every place that we visit (location, brief history, curiosities and important people)-
METHODOLOGY AND TIME MANAGEMENTThe methodology used is based on interaction between pupils, working through basic competences such as the technological, the social, the artistic and the cultural, etc.Tasks are divided between individual work, pair work and group work. The choice depends on the needs that each activity requires. Group work stimulates social interaction and positive feedback concerning the learned concepts. The evaluation will be undertaken through a portfolio, which we will call the “passport”, in order to fit with the theme and the connecting thread of the lessons. The timing of the didactic session consists of six session, although this will always depend on the situation of the students.
