One city in the Tigris Euphrates River Valley is Lagash. It was an important sumerian city which was ruled by independent kings. The city that had temples throughout it and was the biggest city in the world from 2075-2030 B.C.E. Lagash and the city Umma, had conflicts over who got the fertile land between the two cities.
The Tigris Euphrates Civilization's government was a monarchy, so they were ruled by a king and queen. Unlike the Egyptians they did not think of their kings as gods. In their government they traded and occasionally went into war.
Religion in the Mesopotamian River Valley was mostly Polytheism for thousands of years. Polytheistic religions believed in more than one god. They say that Mesopotamian religions were a major influence on religions throughout the world. They believed strongly in all the gods and godesses and each city had it's own temple.
In Ancient Mesopotamia, in the Tigris Euphrates River Valley, there were not many jobs most people hunted and gathered. Your daily routine really depended on your class. A normal day was mostly based on just work. The lower class were slaves, the middle class were usually farmers and the higher class were craftsman, merchants or civil servants. The Mesopotamians lived in mud brick houses. The women wore long dresses and jewelry and the men wore long shirts both made out of sheepskin or wool, the women and men both wore make up. For entertainment they often danced, made music and played sport like boxing and wrestling.
The people of the Tigris Euphrates River Valley Civilization invented several things. One of them is cuneiform which is one of the earliest forms of writing that uses pictures to represent words. It was written on clay tablets, it is kind of similar to hieroglyphics. They also invented the wheel and the calendar. Their wheel looked very similar just less advanced and they were made when they would make pottery. Their calendars did have 12 months, but no weeks and the days were 12 hours long. All three of these things have obviously advanced and we use them everyday now. They invented a lot of other things that have infuenced us too.
