Marriage was a goal in life for many young women. They weren't expected to live independently. They were taught to be obedient to their fathers and husbands. Whoever didn't marry usually entered in convents and nunneries.

Society was dominated by men. Women had to know and find their place in society. Society told the women what their job was. Their role was to support their husbands. Some medieval women's activities include collecting eggs, painting, and cooking. They also harvested, hunted, and played chess with their husbands.
