The Medditerrainian Basin Has a serious problem, which plays a large role in the world as a whole. Biodiversity in itself is dissapearing from bio-diverse hotspots such as the Medditerrainian Basin. When ships are coming through the basin they are leaving behind serious waste from spills and other accidents. Also, humanity's need to build bigger and bigger cities is also causing a problem. Green sea Turtles are one of the species found in the Basin, they come to the shores every breeding season to lay their eggs. When these eggs hatch, the baby turtles rely on the light of the moon to guide them to the sea to begin their lives. But when humans cause light pollutions from their cities and buildings, the turtles mistake their lights for the moonlight. This causes them to head the wrong direction ultimatly killing all of them, which is why they are endagered today. Only until now have these turtles gone un-noticed. Now, there are groups of individuals who guard the nests, and make sure that during the time of hatching, all major contributors of light pollution turn their lights off. Since these conservations efforts have begun, the population of Green Sea turtles has increased dramatically.

The Medditerrainean Basin is a biologically diverse area. It is composed of the sea Itself, the islands of the Med. sea, and the inner coastal area of the Shore region. The Basin is home to many species such as the Green Turtle(bottom left) and the Monk Seal(top left).
