mean, median, and mode

Definitions- mean-In a data set, the sum of all the data points, divided by the number of data points; average.Median-middle number in a data set when the data are put in order; a type of average.Mode-A type of average; the number (or numbers) that occurs most frequently in a set of data.

Two job’s that might use these concept’s are: 1.Math Teacher2.Store Manager (use of mean for items that get sold the most.)

Examples- mean- 14(add all of the umbers up…) 19 15 +__17__ 65(then divide by the number of numbers that was added together.)65/4= 16.2516.25 is your mean! Median- 1,0,3,7,4,8,2,5,4,7,4,3.(put the numbers in order.) 0,1,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,7,7,8.(then count down from both sides) 0,1,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,6,7,7,8.(the “4” in the middle is your median!) Mode- (simply count what numbers appears the most.)0,1,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,6,7,7,8.( I this case, the mode is 4.)
