[2014] Aneeka Armstrong (5/6 Russell): M.C.Escher

Personal ReflectionMy personal reflection for why I chose M.C.Escher was because I wanted to know more that what artwork he does,I wanted to find the inspiration and the reason why he started it all. Another reason I chose this certain Mathemitician is because I enjoyed the project that we done on Escher designs. I also wanted people to see how easy it is to create something like their own, and let everyone know what qualities they have.

M.C.EscherM.C. Escher was a very well-known artist for his artworks based on tessellation; most of his artworks were inspired by mathematics and woodwork. To make these artworks there were many steps that needed to be accomplished; they were very time consuming steps but in the end they were worth it. These steps were; thinking of a pattern or objects, making a design (sometimes this would take 50-70 sketches and on good days 30) then he would need to put detail inside of the animal or object. Artworks made by Escher were used for many different things and used by many different people, such as; teachers, parents and children. The impact of Escher's designs were not recognised as useful although they were helpful, Teacher would use them for getting students to do their own design or to re-draw one, Children would use them for colouring in or decorations AND parents would use them to give their child something to do maybe even for themselves to do artworks with the design in them.

He who wonders discovers that this in itself is wonder

We adore chaos because we love to produce order

Only thosos who attempt the absurd will acheive the impossible

Escher himself
