PART III- Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment
Themes
When reading this book, the theme of family is most prominent. This group of hybrid mutants have lived in solitude without parents ever since they escaped from The School. Jeb, the scientist who rescued them, was the closest thing for family that the Flock had. Once he went missing, they were alone. When Max gets injured on the way to rescue Angel, she gets help from Dr. Martinez and her daughter Ella. To Max, Dr. Martinez and Ella were as close to having a family as possible. Once Angel is rescued, their goal is to get information concerning their previous families and where to find them. The Flock's longing for a real normal family dominates their feelings and causes them to do irrational things based on their feelings. Nudge left the meeting place for the Flock in order to try and find her mother.
Another theme found in the story is the message of staying brave and courageous. The Flock must fend for themselves in life and face danger constantly. Consistently fighting frightening Erasers requires an enormous amount of courage. Even though the Flock consists of little children, their powers, courage and loyalty to one another enables them to stand up to any challenge. Their courage is displayed when they willingly travel back to The School where they were tortured a few years ago.
My Opinion
After reading one of James Patterson's young adult books, Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, his amazing writing feats seem well-earned. I thought that this was a fantastic story for both guys and girls. One of my favorite aspects of the story was the changing conflicts. There were two central conflicts and minor problems throughout the book causing new chances for action. The story kept me entertained the entire time with little to no dull parts. I was most impressed with the characters that James Patterson chose. Max was a great leader and Fang was such a powerful warrior. I felt that I could connect with each of the characters and their endeavors. James Patterson's writing style in this particular fiction story made room for more entertainment throughout the entire eight-book series. I look forward to reading the next book and would highly recommend this book for anyone who isn't a huge fan of reading. However, this story can be enjoyable for adults and avid readers too. Its twisting plot and changing adventurous attitude can intrigue anyone. Overall, it was a wonderful book to read and I enjoyed it a lot.
