Maurice Sendak

-An American illustrator and writer of children’s books.-Born June 10th, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York-Died May 8th 2012 at the age of 83 in Danbury, Connecticut -He was widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are (Published in 1963)

- Illustrated many works by other authors including the Little Bear books by Else Minarik- Sendak says “Doing books and pictures is the only is the only true happiness I’ve ever enjoyed in my life. It’s just sublime.” It’s magic time.” - Sendak decided to become an illustrator after watching Walt Disney’s film Fantasia at the age of twelve.- Wrote AND illustrated Where the Wild Things Are - The book was originally Where the Wild Horses Are
