Mayflower Compact- drafted on the Mayflower in 1620 and was the first self-government plan ever put into effect in English colonies,it created a direct democracy where people take part first hand in their government Thanksgiving- a famously celebrated holiday honoring when the Pligrims came to America and shared a feast with the Indians.

Purtians left the Anglicnan Church to start their own congregation,King James began to arrest them but they escaped to Holland in 1608 then left Holland and sailed for America in 1617.

why did they come?

September 1620 under the reign of King James around 100 english men and women set sail for the new world on the Mayflower. The ship landed on the shores of Cape Cod, two months later, and in late December landed at Plymouth Rock where they would form the first permanent settlement of Europeans in New England.
