Biography

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, MLK went on to attend Morehouse College at the young age of 15. MLK went on to be one of the most influential civil right activists of all time. MLK joined the bus boycott to fight Jim Crow laws after the arrest of Rosa Parks on December 1st , 1955. King went on to form the Souther Christian Leadership Confernce to fight segregation. A huge fan of Ghandi and his teachings of civil disobedience, MLK visted India to study Ghandi. After his return home, MLK became a co-pastor with his father, alongside coordinating non-violent protests. During his civil rights activisim, MLK was arrested several times due to his protests, but was released eventually each time. On June 23rd, 1963 MLK gave his famous I Have a Dream speech during the March on Washington, which was the largest civil rights demonstration in history. Due to his activitism, MLK was awared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. King continued his activitism till his last days, when he was shot on April 4th, 1968 while in Memphis, Tennessee.
