Martin Luther King Jr.

Maritn Lurther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduate Morehouse College in 1948 with a sociology degree. And he soon continued on to become a pastor in 1954 in a Baptist Church. In the mid 1950s Martin Lurther King Jr. became a civil-rights activist. He worked with Lyndon B. Johnson to pass Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. King continued to work with desgregating the South and recieved a Noble Piece Prize for his work in 1964. King was assasianted on April 4, 1968 on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee.

Martin helped pass two bills through his work with desegregation and was elected president of Southern Christian Leadership Confrence in 1957.At the age of thirty-five Martin Luther King Jr. was the youngest man to recieve a Noble Piece Prize. The money he received was $54,123. Martin donanted all the money towards the continutation of the civil rights movement.

Lasting Impact

Played a role on desegregating the South and other areas. Also helped create the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
