Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist, who led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his death by assassination in 1968. He was born in Atlanta Georgia. He was the middle child of Michael King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. He led many boycotts, freedom walks, and speechs to advocate rights for African Americans. He wrote and told the famous " I have a dream speech" which was so benificial to opening many rights to the African Americans. He was shot and killed in1968 by James Earl Ray.

Martin Luther King Jr. played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens, as well as the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. King also received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, among several other honors.

Martin Luther King Jr. helped in allowing many rights for African Americans to be established, hes is one of the most notable people in history in doing so.
