He was born in Atlanta, Georgia On January 15, 1929 to Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s Parents were Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King . His Wife was Coretta Scott. His children were Yolonda, Martin Luther King III, Dexter and Bernice.

Martin Luther King Jr. led a political rally on Washington to work for civil rights for all African American people. He delivered his famous “ I Have A Dream” speech.

Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife had four children. Their oldest was Yolanda, the next was Martin Luther King III, Dexter was next and Bernice was their last child.

Martin Luther King Jr. traveled across the nation working for civil rights as the President of the SCLS (Southern Christian Leadership Conference).

Martin Luther King Jr. married Coretta Scott King, a human rights activists, in June of 1953. They were married by Martin Luther King Sr. on Coretta Scott’s parents lawn in Marion, AL.

Martin Luther King Jr. went to Atlanta public schools as a child. He also attended Booker T. Washington High School. He then went to Morehouse College, Crozer Theological Seminary, and Boston University to continue his education.

Dr. King went to Memphis, Tennessee to protest for sanitation workers’ rights. He delivered a powerful speech leaving the crowd astonished. It was his last speech before he died the following day.

In April 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. He was on the Lorraine Motel balcony and he was shot by James Earl Ray. Coretta Scott King did not believe that James Earl Ray was her husband's actual assassinator.

Awards- Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, John Dewey Award, from the United Federation of Teachers, 1964,Named American of the Decade by Laundry, Dry Cleaning, and Die Workers International Union, 1963, Named Man of the Year by Time, 1963, Link Magazine of New Delhi, India, listed Dr. King as one of the sixteen world leaders who had contributed most to the advancement of freedom during 1959, Second Annual Achievement -The Guardian Association of the Police Department of New York, 1958, Russwurm Award from the National Newspaper Publishers, 1957, Spingarn Medal from NAACP, 1957, Selected one of the most outstanding personalities of the year by Time, 1957, Marcus Garvey Prize for Human Rights, presented by the Jamaican Government. (posthumously) 1968, Rosa L. Parks Award, presented by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. (posthumously) 1968
