He was a great academic student and skipped his sophmore and senior years of high school and went to college to get his Ph.D. and became a pastor.
He was born on January 15in Atlanta, Georgia, and was one of the biggest civil rights activists of all time.

In April, he went to Birmingham Alabama to bring the movement there. He wanted chaos and mass arrests. Insead, the police used dogs and high pressure water jets.
He led a march on Washington D.C. in August and gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. It talks about how he wants blacks to be treated equally.
He died on April 4 at a motel that he stayed at often as he was getting ready for more marches and more speeches.
