Mars has the tallest mountain in the solar system Olympus Mons, 3 times higher than Everest.
Mars has the largest and deepest canyon Valles Marineris making the Grand Canyon look small!
Symbol: The symbol of the red planet Mars represents the shield and spear of the god of war. Mars symbol is also the symbol of males.
Moons: Mars has 2 moons, 1 is Deimos (bottom) and it was discoverd by Asaph Hall on August 12,1877 and Deimos means panic. The other moon is Phobos ( Up)and it was also discoverd by Asaph Hall on August 18, 1877, this was 6 days after Deimos was discoverd and it means fear.
Solar System: Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun and it's neighbours are Jupiter and Earth. The distance of Mars From the Sun in AU is 141,600,000 and in km it is 227,940,000. It takes 687 earth days for Mars to go around the Sun. A day in Mars is 24 hours and 37 minutes.
History: The planet Mars wasn't really discovered but the ancients might have seen it in the night sky and called it Mars. Mars got it's name by the Roman god of war who represents war and blood and the planet's soil is red.
Compositon and Atmosphere: Mars has a core and surface like Earth. Mars' core is made out of iron and sulfur. Mars' surface is made out of thick layer of iron dust, basalt and rocks. Mars' atmosphere is made out of major and minor gases. The major gases are nitrogen, carbon dioxide and argon. The minor gases are heliem, hydrogen and methane.

Explorations: One of the explorations of Mars is the rover Opportunity (right) and this rover was launched on July 07, 2003. Its job was to go to Mars and study rocks and soil and looks for little lifeforms . Opportunity was on Mars since 2003 so it had been there for nine years now.

Mars' climate is very cold and windy so it is one of the coldest planet of the inner planets in our solar system.
