MARIE CURIE

She was the first woman to win a nobel prize, and she also won awards in the physics and the chemistry fields and is the only woman to have gotten two awards in two different fields.

She realized the need for radioactive sources to treat illness and the need for a supply for research for nuclear physics. She made trucks called, Curies, that carried X-rays to the battle field in WWI. She went the U.S., to buy radium and research about it, to be able to open a radium research institute in Poland. She branched into studying radioactivity, which she named, becuase it was such a brand new study that nobody knew anything about.

Marie Curie was born on November 7, 1867 and died when she was 66 on July 4, 1934. She was born in Poland and moved to Paris when she was 24 in 1891 to help her sister and starting really getting into her studies.

BIOGRAPHY:

Marie has helped us learned to be careful around certain resources and substances; she has taught us this becuase she actually died from being exposed to much to the substances that she used. Also, she has helped us with modern technology because of the radioactivity used in it. Finally she helped us with finding and helping to treat cancer because of the new technology of she helped discover.
