All countries want to protect their national interest. Conflicts occur when countries disagree with one another on issues which may threaten their national interests. Disagreement can arise when countries fight over border, fight over scarce resources or fight for ideological beliefs

-Criticise each other openly-Reduce trade with the conflicting country as a form of protest-Resolve conflict through peaceful agreements-Seek help and support from regional or international relations to resolve conflict.-Start a war-Display the strength of their military force through military exercise as a warning to other countries-Cut off diplomatic toes with each other.-Protest to the other country through their representatives
