Gandhi led the Salt March in 1930,leading htousands of Indians tothe Arabian Sea from Ahmadabad.This led to the arest of nearly 60,000 people, including Gandhi himself.

Gandhi demanded immediate dependance for India in 1942 and the British responded by imprisoning him and tens of thousands of Congress leaders.
