Earth Is A Magnet
Manetic Field
Magnetic Poles
Earth has a iron core, so like a magnet, Earth has a magnetic field. Earth also has a north and south pole. And a compass only works because Earth acts like a giant magnet. (Compasses are magnetic.)
The strongest part of a magnet is the ends or the poles. Every magnet has a north an south pole, even if the magnet was cut in half. The same poles always repel and different poles attract.
Did you know that doctors use magnets to get steal out of a patients eye? The magnet doesn't even have to touch the eye, that is because of the magnetic field. The father away the magnet is, the weaker the magnet is. A magnet is strong enough to pull through water, glass, and paper.
