Macbeth

Summary:My favorite scene throughout the play is when Lady Macbeth starts to lose her mind. She begins to ''wash'' her hands, sleep walk, and talk to herself. This shows how guilt can start to eat you alive. ''Here's the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand,'' said Lady Macbeth. She starts to think that the murders will never be gone from her conscious. She ''washes'' her hands to try to rid her hands of the blood that covers them from the murders. ''Whats done cannot be undone!'' She starts to reveal her involvement with these murders and she talks to herself throughout the night. The guilt cannot just be brushed away.Modern day connection:I think Macbeth has many connectiions to modern day. The want for power is a very popular topic today in society. Many people would do anything they could to be able to get a little higher up the ranks. It also connects to society today by the use of people going against their own beliefs in order to become successful.. Macbeth doesnt want to start killimg in order to become king until Lady Macbeth starts to pressure him to do so. Peer pressure also plays a part in this act of going against ones own beliefs. Many feel pressured to do things in order to become successful. Those are some reasons that Macbeth relates to modern day society.

This character is from the movie Ella Enchanted. His name is Edgar and he goes to drastic measures to try to become king, even trying to kill his nephew, Prince Charmont. His thirst for power reminds me of Macbeths want to become king, " My lord, his throat is cut; that I did for him."(III.IV.427)

In the movie Hocus Pocus, the three main characters are witches who reak havic on a nearby twon. The witches are extremely similar to the three witches in Macbeth including their supernatural abilities, "Fair is foul, and foul is fair; Hover through the fog and filthy air."(I.I.410)

This picture shows a picture of some land that is utterly destroyed. The land is no more and this is what i would think Scottland would look like in Macbeth. There was so much fighting, death, and rain, I'd imagine the land to be gross and ugly, "I am in blood stepp'd in so far that, should I wade no more."(III.IV.428)

This picture very simply helps discribe what i think the theme of Macbeth is. Macbeth is all about this want for power and revenge for the consequences in return, "That keep the word of promise to our ear, and break it to our hope."(V.VIII.446)

One motif you can see all throughout Macbeth is hallucinations. All the power and crimes committed seem to start driving some crazy, "Thou canst not say I did it. Never shake thy glory that locks me."(III.IV.428)

My favorite scene througout Macbeth is Act V scene I. In this scene we see Lady Macbeth starting to lose it. She is sleep walking, constantly "washing" her hands, and is talking to herself. This just shows how doing something horrible, murder in her case, can start to slowly eat at you.

For my song I chose Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Lorde. This song, just by the title, does a very good job at descibing Macbeth. Everyone would love to rule the world and be in power but some would go far just to try to accomplish this.
