Macbeth project

Summary Of Favorite Scene In the Macbeth play my favorite scene is at the end of the play, because to me I feel the ending shows what the whole play was about. At the end when the war between Macbeth and Macduff, in this scene Macbeth feels he has already won the war because of the witch's description of his destiny and future. The witches told Macbeth that he had a charm, which was only whom was born from a woman cannot hurt him, well the twist is Macduff was not born from his mothers womb but he was ripped, macduff stated “Despair thy charm, and let the angel whom thou still hast served tell thee, Macduff was from his mothers womb Untimely ripped” (Macbeth 5.8 10-15)

Setting In the play the setting is in the land of Scotland in the 11th Century. Throughout the play Macbeth and the rest of the characters are set in both of his castles, one in Inverness and the other royal palace in Dunsinane. Many things happen at both of these locations, things that impact the play greatly. First was the murder of Duncan which happened at the castle in Inverness, but during that time there was a storm during the murder. For example a very good description of the storm was stated by the character Lennox. He stated “The night has been chaotic. The wind blew down through the chimneys where we were sleeping. People are saying they heard cries of grief in the air, strange screams of death, and terrible voices predicting catastrophes that will usher in a woeful new age. The owl made noise all night. Some people say that the earth shook as if had a fever. This description gives the mood and the action of what happened during the murder of Duncan, and the evil spirit that took over Macbeth.

Theme The theme I chose for the Macbeth play is Destiny versus Free Will. This theme represents the play because the actions that were in this play was caused by either the supernatural force, or the other characters thinking. For example in the play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were the ones who planned and commited the murder of Duncan together. In the moments of doing so, Macbeth was having second thoughts about going through with the plan. Lady Macbeth would not let this happen so she stated “Are you afraid to act the way you desire? Will you take the crown you want so badly, or will you live as a coward, always saying “I can’t” after you say “I want to”? You’re like the poor cat in the old story” (Macbeth 1.7 40-45). Macbeth replies with the realization that in order to be king he has to commit the murder, “ Now i’m decided, and I will exert every muscle in my body to commit this crime. Go now, and pretend to be a friendly hostess. Hide with a false pleasant face what you know in your false, evil heart” (Macbeth 1.7 75-80). Lastly, all of the other murders like Banquo and Fleance were committed under the presence of the witches which is the presence of evil.

Modern-day connection From reading and truly learning the meaning of the Macbeth play, my modern day connection is an everyday normal human being. By that I mean a person who has a dream, a passion, a goal, and a fight for something right or wrong. Macbeth was pictured as a person fighting to be king and to achieve that is to do anything he has to. As a human in this world we compete everyday for what we want, we have goals, we have dreams and we will do anything to achieve. Now of course we do not kill someone to achieve that… sometimes… but the connection between Macbeth's determination, passion, and loyalty it is connected to a person who has a goal.

Macbeth  The reason I picked this famous actor to resemble Macbeth is because the character gives off the mood and seriousness Macbeth has throughout the play. He had a destiny of becoming king and doing anything in his power to get what he wanted. In a specific scene where Macbeth is explaining to his hired killers to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. Macbeth states “And though I could with barefaced power sweep him from my sight and bid my will avouch it, yet I must not, for certain friends that are both his and mine, whose loves I may not drop, but wail his fall who I myself struck down. And thence it is, that I to your assistance do make love, masking the business from the common eye for sundry weighty reasons” (Macbeth 3.1 120-125). This quote from macbeth shows his determination to swipe out anyone who could ruin his fate and destiny.

Lady Macbeth The reason I picked this famous actor to resemble Lady Macbeth is because, throughout the play we learn that Lady Macbeth has a very fierce and fiery attitude, for example in act one scene seven Lady Macbeth shows how serious she is about being the new royals and killing duncan, she stated “we fail? But screw your courage to the sticking-place, and we’ll not fail” (Macbeth 1.7.60-65). This quote shows Lady Macbeth's desire to make macbeth become a man and think like a man in order to commit this murder. Lastly I feel this character represents Lady Macbeth very well because of her fierce look.

"It will have blood, they say. Blood will have blood. Stones have been known to move, and trees to speak" (Macbeth 3.4 125-130).

Symbol The symbol I chose for the Macbeth play is Ghosts, I chose this because of the impactful scene when Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo at the dinner party. In the scene where Macbeth is affected by so much that has happened in the past, that his guilty conscience makes him see the ghost of Banquo. During this moment Macbeth states, “Prithee, see there! Behold! Look! Lo! How say you? Why, what care I? If thou canst nod, speak too. If charnel houses and our graves must send Those that we bury back, our monuments Shall be the maws of kites” (Macbeth 3.4 70-75). This quote from Macbeth shows the effects of the committed murders and how they affected Macbeth

Video ExplainationFrom the movie “Macbeth” 2013, the clip is shown from the scene of Macbeth and Macduff fight. What is shown in the clip is the fight but a very important part. When Macduff finally defeats Macbeth and states that he cannot be harmed from a man born from a woman's womb, but Macduff was not born from a woman's womb he was ripped from his mother's womb. Macduff then stabs Macbeth in the front of the chest, this is very important because it shows that Macbeth was not running from death, this was an honorable way to die.

Song Explaination In this catchy song written by Miss K Hall but vocals by the band Little Mix, sings a recap of what happened in the play. In the the 6 minute song it goes through the play like the meeting with the witches, the plan of murder with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, the return of the ghost of Banquo, the killing of Macduffs family, the threat of Macduff during the fight, and lastly the crowning of Malcolm.
