Facts:1.)He was proclamed emperor by his troops. His power relied on his troops so to keep them happy he let them marry and increased their pay.2.) He had the longest reign of power- about 18 years- until Diocletian in 285 A.D3.) He was married twice before he became emperor. First to Paccia Marciana from 175 AD to 185 AD. Then to Julia Domna from late 180's AD to Lucius' death in 211. 4.) He didn't become emperor until he was 48, which was late considering that most people only lived to be about 50-60.5.) Severus had his rival's supporters put to death which gave him the nickname "The Punic Sulla".
