Louis XIV of France

The Palace of Versailles was used as a hunting lodge by Louis xiii, but expanded into a place of pleasure by Louis xiv beginning in 1669. Then in 1682 he make it into a fixed residence for the sovereigns, then eventually it turned itno a full palace.

He viewed himself as the direct representative of God, and that he was given divine right to exercise the absolute power of the monarchy.

Known as the "Sun King" for transforming the french monarchy and established his country as the dominant Euopean power.

Immediatly after recieving soul power of France he worked very hard to get complete control of all the colonies overseas owned by France.

One of his last accomplishements was the treaty that ended the spanish war of succession, signed right before he died.
