Louis Jolliet was born in New France 1645 , near Quebec, to Jean Jolliet and Marie d'AbancourtKing Louie the 14 sponsered the the voyage with Louis to chart and explore the Mississippi.Louis Jolliet got a whole island named Anticost Island. He made his own trading center and helped Hudsen Bay.
Accomplishments
Louis Jolliet was the first person to explore the Mississippi River with Jacques Marquette but he lost his notes which is why he is one of the not so known explorers.The main reason Louis was popular was becase of his fur trading. He was a big fur trader.Louis Jolliet also went on many other expeditions including the Great Lakes.

He explored the Mississippi River which at the time was called mesipi with Jacques Marquette. v
