Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up as an excellent singer on the street corners to support his struggling, poor family. When he was a teenager, he was influenced by hearing jazz while on the streets one day. Armstrong decided to make a band. He earned his jazz title "Satchmo Pops."

Louis Armstrong turned out to be a successful jazz musician. He has appeared numerous times on TV and appeared many times playing jazz on the radio. It's hard to believe that he came from practically nothing. Armstrong was even allowed in the Cotton Club which was whites only.
