Title: Looking for Alaska by John Green & The OUtsiders by SE Hinton
This book confused me and made me sad. After I finished the book I looked back and caught details that I didn’t catch the first time I read it. It has a lot of deep/heavy concepts, but it is told from a teenagers point of view, which I liked. Its relatable because Miles is in high school and the same age as us. It made me sad overall because in the “after” chapters the mood of the story became darker. Overall I loved this book and want to read it in its entirety again.
Reaction to the Book
When I finished this book I was crying. I saw the movie for the first time a few summers ago, but I couldn’t remember what happened while I was reading. I also couldn’t appreciate it like I do now and having analyzed “Nothing Gold can Stay” by Robert Frost myself in the poem project I understood it more. I deeply enjoyed this book and loved every page.
Looking for Alaska-Alaska chose to drive drunk the night she was killed-Miles chose to start a new life at boarding school-Not calling 911 when her mom died
The Outsiders-Johnny and Ponyboy chose to run instead of turn themselves in-Johnny and Ponyboy chose to go into the burning building and save the kids-The characters attitudes about their life/situation
