Lois Lowry

Lois Lowry was born in Honalulu Hawaii, March 20, 1937. Her father was a military officer. He and his family were moving from place to place often. Lois lived in New York, Tokyo and other places. She got married as a nineteen year old to Donald Grey Lowry, a military officer, and together they had two kids. As her parents, they also were moving often. She dropped out of colledge after to years to marry, and finished later.

Why An Author?

When Lois Lowry was eight years old, she loved reeding,she dreamed of making her own books one day. When she grew up, she was a good photographer. She would publish her pictures in a magazine with interesting stories for children. One publisher recognized her writing talent and proposed her to write a book. Her first book was A Summer to Die, and it was based on the story of her sister.
