Logging In The Amazon

Think before you cut. We need wood for products like tables, doors, chairs, beds, cardboard, etc. But we need to be more aware when we cut down trees. Trees provide oxygen for us to breathe, as well as homes and food for animals that help the environment. If we cut down trees we may accidently kill the animal or plant species that could cure a disease. People should start using bamboo instead. It is easier to grow, faster to grow, and harder than oak wood. Also, stands of bamboo grow quickly and they can be harvested in around 4 years. Bamboo stands release 35% more oxygen than regular stands so we would have plenty of oxygen. There are over 1500 species of bamboo so it can grow in almost any environment. We have no use for logging companies. Taking certain precautions can let humans and animals live on this planet for much longer.

Over 2,500 acres of rainforest are being logged each hour. Many medicines we use today are made from plants that live in rainforests. If the rainforest becomes extinct then many types of the medicines we use will be destroyed as well, and we will get sick without a cure.

Logging is not good for the environment. Each hour 2,500 acres of the rainforest are harvested. Also, trees provide lots of oxygen for us to breathe. If we cut them down we will basically suffocate. Another thing is that if there are less trees on the earth, more animals will be on roads causing more accidents.

Lasting Impact

Even if people replant trees after they cut them down, it will take decades for the trees to grow to the size their ancestors were. With less trees on the earth, more animals with be on the roads and that will cause more accidents

Logging inthe Amazon

Think First!

Logging

The Amazon

Point of view 1:

Point of view 2:

Logging is good. It provides jobs to people. If we stop cutting down trees then people will lose their jobs and their families might enter poverty. Also if we stopped cutting down trees, houses would be way more expensive. Also, all of our books would have to be ebooks which harm the environment more than paper books do.

Solutions

Solution 1: Switch to bamboo.

Solution 2: Make tree farms that use seeds from trees people cut down. And don’t cut down trees till they are needed. Tree farns still provide jobs to people. Also, they help stabilize the soil and provide homes for wildlife. Tree farms are a great alternative to logging the rainforests.

Solution 3: Have companies make zero-deforestation policies. These policies force suppliers to make products such as timber, soy, palm oil, beef, and paper fiber in such a way that it doesn’t harm the environment.

Pursuasion

I will tell them that If we cut down trees we won’t have much oxygen because trees provide oxygen. If we run out of oxygen we will all die from suffocation. If we don’t stop deforestation we are basically digging our own graves.
