It bridges the gap between land and water.Aimals that can survive harsh conditions live here.The water above the continental shelf is the neritic zone. Kelp, tiny fish,green turtles and coral reefs live here.The open ocean zone lies beyond the continental slope. Animals like giant squid and large fish live here
