What makes it complex?

ESL Perspective-contains a lot of reading and facts to remember-lack of familiarity with concepts -on different levels-need higher level thinking skills-text has a lot of complex sentences, passive voice and pronouns-may not be used to expressing opinions-difficulty understanding the teacher

Defining It

Allowing students authentic opportunities to learn and practice literacy in English by using a wide variety of resources where students are able examine, anaylze and engage in thinking critically and deeply about history.

Strategies-Charting-Word Walls-Semantic Maps-Journals-Questioning-The use of technology-Writing to Learn Activities (Letters, writing logs etc.)
