Quote"Science makes people reach selflessly for truth and objectivity; it teaches people to accept reality, with wonder and admiration, not to mention the deep awe and joy that the natural order of things brings to the true scientist." - Lise Meitner

Lise Meitner was a physcist whom collaborated with Otto Hahnin the discovery of nuclear fission and gave the first theoretical explanation of the fission process. However, in 1945, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Otto Hahn for the discovery of nuclear fission, overlooking the physicist Lise Meitner beause she was female. Lise Meitner, you see, had to face a lot of oppression in her life. Back then, women weren’t allowed to attend universities or other higher educational institutes. Did that stop her? No! She went on to become the second woman ever to get a doctoral degree from the University of Vienna in 1905.

Nearly all life on Earth gets its energy from the sun, which ultimatly gets its energy from nuclear fission. The potential role of nuclear fission is to meet increased future energy demands while reducing greenhouse gas emissions

WHY IS LISE MEITNER'S WORK SO IMPORTANT?
