Linear Motion

Linear motion describes the motion of an object in one dimentional space. This means that the object in question will only be traveling along the x-axis.We use Xi to symbolize the initial starting point. We use X to signify the ending point.ΔX is defined as X-Xi.

ΔX=X-XiΔV=V-Vi=ΔX/ΔtΔa=a-ai=ΔV/ΔtUsing the above equations we can formulate four of the most important equations in physics: the kinematic equations.

The Kinematic Equations:ΔX=Vi(t)+1/2(a)t^2V=Vi+atV^2=(Vi)^2+2(a)ΔXΔX=1/2(V+Vi)t
