Life of a Cicada

References:Google, National Geographic and Encyclopedia Britannica

In early life the cicada is the same color as most tree bark to protect it from predators and its wings are not noticable.

Many people think Cicadas lay eggs underground, but they actually lay them in soft bark of trees.

Only male adult cicadas make their famous noise. This noise is made to attract females.

Between the cnymph and the adult stage, cicadas go through a molting process.

Every 17 years, Cicadas come out and cause major noise and headaches for humans.

Cicada Larva is very large in size. Notice the size compared to the penny in the background.
