Life in the 50's and the 60's

The 1950s and the 1960s were a very unique time. There were many advances, changes, and creations during this time, from technology to music. Music genres went from Elvis's rock n' roll to Led Zepplin's hard rock. Fashion became a part of culture and sports rocketed in popularity. Major food chains that we see on every corner in every town were established and some of the most important technology was created. All in all, the 50's and 60's were one of the most interesting and important times in our history.

Life in the 1950s and the 1960s

Sports in the 50's and 60'sSports throughout the 1950's were mainly based on the athletes. Many of the championships our teams compete in now were also competed in during the 50's and the 60's, such as the NFL championship and even the world series. In the 1960's sports were growing in popularity. One major sporting event that was created was the first Super bowl in 1967, in which the Green Bay Packers won.

Fashion of the 50's After World War 2, rationing of clothing ended, therefore there were larger quantities of fabrics. Style and clothing became an important part of culture in the 1950's

TechnologyIn the 50s and 60s there were many advances in technology. There were many new things that were invented and used throughout the 50s and 60s such as the first passenger jets, laser technology, cordless technology, and a computer mouse that was invented in 1969 (invented 33 years after the first home computer!)

Fashion of the 60'sTelevision was a major thing in the 1960's, meaning that much of the fashion was influenced by things people saw on the tv. Music fans also took styles they've seen some of their favorite artist wear

50's and 60's foodIn the late 50's and early 60's, the number one most popular food was Swanson Frozen Dinners (TV dinners). Also, many fast food resteraunts such as McDonald's, Burger King, Denny's, and even Dunkin' Donuts were established in this time

Music in the 50's and 60's1950's: There were many major artist such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and even Ella Fitzgerald1960's: Multiple hard rock bands were established such as Led Zeppelin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and The Doors. Also, The Beatles came into the picture in the 60's and landed a #1 spot on the top 50 artists chart, right above Elvis Presley The Beatles-Words of Love:

EntertainmentThe television became insanely popular in the 1960’s. From 1950-1969, the number of televisions in households increased from less than a million to over 44 million. Another popular form of entertainment was going to the movie theatres or even a drive in movie. The average movie ticket cost ranged from 46 cents to 51 cents (the average cost now is from $9 to $15)
