Leaning Tower of Pisa

Originally the Tower was supposed to not lean, but in the early years of construction, the tower was placed on very weak soil, causing it to start "leaning". During the construction, Pisa was at war with other city-states, so construction was halted at times due to this.Today, the Tower is now a large tourist attraction, even though attempts by the Italian Goverments to straighten it out failed.

Galileo Galilei dropped 2 cannonballs of different weights to see how fast 1 dropped.In WWII, Nazis used this tower as an observation post.In 1964 the Italian Goverment wanted to untilt the tower.On 2001, the tower was declared stable for the next 300 years.
