Landforms

Runoff is the water that overflows from the land into a body of water.

A watershed is land that contributes water to a stream or river .

The watershed that serves our area is The Chesapeake Bay. It is important to have a healthy watershed because it affects our drinking water. It also gives us uncontaminated fish to eat, and keeps the soil and wildlife healthy.

A meander is a winding curve or bend of a river.

A delta is a land form that is formed at the mouth of a river where it splits up into several distributaries.

A flood plain is flat, low area of land along a stream or river that floods easily.
