There are also many depositional features in Alaska. There is something called erratics in Alaska. Erratics are large boulders that were transported and deposited by glaciers. A moraine deposited by a glacier at its end is an end moraine. You can find end moraines somewhere in anywhere in Glacier Bay in Alaska. There are two more types of moraines that can be found in Alaska. The first one is a medial moraine— a moraine in the middle of a glacier parallel to its sides that it is often formed by the Union of lateral moraines when two glaciers come together. Lastly, a lateral moraine, which is a moraine deposited by a glacier at its side. Depositional features are formed by large amounts of sediment can be carried large distances by glaciers.

Exit Glacier is named what it is because it served as the first recorded crossing of the Harding Icefield.

Glacier Bay has many branches, inlets, lagoons, islands, and channels.

Malaspina Glacier is the largest Piedmont Glacier in the world. It is nearly the size of Rhode Island.

Glacier Bay has many interesting characteristics that you could possibly see on your trip. One of them is a glacier horn—sharp, pyramid shaped peaks that form when several arêtes join. Another is arêtes. Arêtes are sharp, crested ridges in rugged mountains. Next thing is a cirque, which is a deep, steep walled basin on a mountain usually forming the blunt end of a valley. Last but not least we have fjords. They are simply a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs. There are many other things you can see in Alaska that have erosional features, which are formed by the flowing towing glacier which pries rocks loose and incorporates them into ice.
