Ku Klux Klan

The Ku Klux Klan was an organization that formed in the south after the civil war. The members believed in the superiority of whites, over other races. The KKK used disguises, secret signs,ad rituals, similar to those used in other fraternal organizations. They also threatned and physically assaulted blacks. Such as; whipped robbed and raped them.

The Ku Klux Klan focused on spreading terror to newly freed slaves of the African American race. They threatned to use "lynching" as a form of torture. Lynching, was being hung until death. They also spread terror by, torturing those who didn't believe in the KKK's motives, or refusing orders

Why did they make their revival in the 1920's?

Who was the Ku Klux Klan?

What were their goals?

In the 1920s, the Klan made it's revival, because it's membership exceeded 4,000,000 nationally and they started making more and more profits off of it's sale of memberships, and costumes. They started making signs of a burning cross to symbolize them, as a group. They also started to participate in more marches, parades and night time cross burnings. By then, they weren't just biasing against blacks, they were also bias to Roman Catholics, Jews, Foreigners and organized labor
