The Holocaust was the systematic persecution and murder of approximately 6,000,000 Jewish people by the Nazi regime. The Nazis who came to power in Germany in January of 1933 believed that the Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews were inferior and a threat to the German community.

Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis in an attic. When she was captured, she was placed in Auschwitz, a concentratrion camp, where she died from illness. Her diary was later published.

Oskar Schindler was an unlikely hero. He was a German that joined the Nazi party but later protected Jews.

Survivor Stories: With so few survivors left, their stories must be told to keep the horrific events of the Holocaust and the memories alive.

Kristallnacht

The Night of the Broken Glass was November 7, 1938. It was a violent uprising against the Jews. Over 200 synagogues were burned along with countless Jewish businesses. Many Jews were beaten and killed.

Adolf Hitler, the German "Fuehrer" took advantage of German'y disorder. He embraced a sense of racial superiority and unrestrained hatred for the Jews who were accused of Germany's troubles.
