Koalas and Chlamydia

THIS IS AN UNLUCKY KOALA WHO HAS BEEN BLINDED BY CHLAMYDIA

THIS IS A POOR BABY WHO HAS BEEN EFFECTED BY CHLAMYDIA

Now, one of the most common places to find koalas is in hospital. In some parts of Australia, koala infection rates are as high as 90%. A few other animals and humans are also infected with the disease but it is usually at low levels. The cure for chlamydia in koalas is still being reasearched.

Chlamydia (say clu-mid-ee-u) is a serious disease effecting koalas all over Australia. This disease is sexually transmitted and turning a vast amount of koalas blind. It is also making many females unable to have children and just to add to the pile, the disease is causing the death of an extensive amount of koalas.

A DAY WITHOUT KOALAS WOULD BE LIKE A DAY WITHOUT SUNSHINE

CHLAYMYDIA IS A KILLER

These are two healthy koalas. If chlamydia is defeated, all koalas could be healthy and happy.
