King Tut

King Tut was an Egyptian king and very famous pharaoh. He lived from 1341 BCE to about 1323 BCE in Ancient Egypt. During his rein he married Ankhesenamun who was his half sister. His full name was Tutankhamen. King Tut was the 12th king of the 18th Egyptian dynasty. He held power from 1332 to around 1323 BCE. The king and his wife had no surviving children together.

King Tut died at age 19 in circa 1323 BCE. Upon his death his wife, Ankhesenamun, asked the king of the Hittites for one of his sons as a husband. His wife later married Ay, before disappearing from history. Tut was buried in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Seventy days after his death Tut's body was laid to rest and the tomb was sealed. There are no known records of Tut after his death.

Tut's death

The finding of King Tut's tomb in 1922 has led to many attempts to unravel the mysteries of his life and death. His tomb was the first untouched Egyptian tomb found. Tut's tomb was filled with teasures such as jewelry, robes, a burial mask, and ivory statues. Tut's treasures have taught achaeologists about Egyptian burial practices and beliefs.
