Meet Kevin Henkes

- Born in 1960 in Racine, Wisconsin- Visited the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts often as a child- Introduced by a librarian to Barbara Bader's American Picturebooks, which sparked his interest even more- Attended University of Wisconsin at Madison, mostly because of the School of Education's Cooperative Children's Book Center- Wrote his first children's picture book in 1981 after his freshman year- Wrote and illustrated almost all of his 35 picture books- Published twelve novels - Gave the May Hill Arbuthnot Lecture in 2007- Awarded the Regina Medal in 2013
