Kateri Tekakwitha

Kateri was born in 1656 in Auriesville, New York. She did not have a great childhood, because at age 4 her parents and brother died of smallpox. So Kateri was adopted by her two aunts and uncle. When Kateri was older she dedicated her life to God by praying and going to mass every Sunday. But her village did not want her to go to mass. So they chased her everywhere and threw rocks and sticks at her. But Kateri still went to church because she loved God so much. Kateri loved God more than her own life. Kateri is known as Lily of the Mountains. Kateri had a great life, but sadly she died on April 17, 1680 at age 24.

Kateri Tekakwitha is a hero. She is my hero because she is barve, humble, and holy. Kateri is very brave. Kateri is brave because she still went to mass on Sunday even though she was not aloud to go. Kateri is vey humble. She is humble because she would never brag, or never just talk about herself. Kateri is very holy. She is holy because she would always go to mass, help everyone out, and and always pray. These three reasons are why Kateri Tekakwitha is my hero.
