The Karankawa tribe ate fish in the Winter, and oyster, clams, scallops, and mullusks were plenty year round. ''Inland, they were able to hunt deer, bear, rabbits, turkeys, duck, and other wil game. Fishing was good in the winter when large schools of fish moved into the bays.''

language Karankawa had their own language. Here are some of them: aligator is hoko, deer is doatn, dog is kiss, friend is ahayika, knife is silabayi, and oyster is da. "Their principal means of transportation was the dugout canoe, a crude watercraft made by hollowing out the trunk of a large tree. Those primitive dugouts, unsuited for deep, open water,were used primarily in the relatively shallow water bettween the island and the main land. Each canoe way a spacious enough to carry an entire family along with there household goods.

They lived in southern Texas along the gulf of Mexico. They have been exstinct since the mid 1800's.They are nowere to be found.

For shelter they built teepee's too live in.

ClothingSometimes the indians wore nothing when it was warmer.They lived in a humid area of Texas. Men and women covered themselves with tatoos for modesty.
