Kansas City Royals

The name "Royals" is an homage to the American Royal, which is a livestock show, rodeo, horse show, and BBQ competition in Kansas City. It is held annually. It was founded by Ewing Kauffman (whom their home stadium is names for) in 1969 after the Athletics moved from KC to Oakland, CA in 1968.
