Summer Reading Resources

A summer loss of 3 months [of reading] accumulates over the elementary grade summers to become a gap of 18 months by the end of 6th grade.

Just because school is out, doesn’t mean that reading and learning should stop. Readers who don’t continue to read over the summer – are likely to lose crucial ground.

The best predictor of summer loss or summer gain is whether or not a student reads during thesummer.
