Justinian for President!

Justinian Law CodeHe realized that the laws of ancient Rome were too long and confusing, so he created a commision to collect, organize, and revise the old laws. The percepts of the new law code is to live honestly, to injure no one, and to give every man his due. Justinian used the law to unify the empire under his control. Western Europe Monarchs modeled their laws on the principles of Justinian's law, which helped them to strengthen and centralize the power.

Conquest of territoriesJustinian tried to conquer the western territories in the sixth century. He considered it his duty to restore the west to the empire. In 533, Justinian's forces attacked North Africa. The campaign took about one year and demonstrated the power of a professional army against the Germainic tribes. The Byzantines successfully conquered the area, but it took nearly two decades to purify. Afterward they turned their attention toward Italy and successfully conquered Italy and North Africa.

Extending right to womenJustinian gave rights to women, unlike Constantine who gave no rights to them at all. He was influenced by his wife, who knew what it was like to have no rights. His wife helped him see that women should be able to have more rights, so he agreed. He declared her Co-Empress and gave her power and rights.

Cyrillicwritten script used today in Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria. I was created for the slavic people so that they could read the bible.

Hagia SopiaJustinian ordered a great church to be built in 532. It was built in five years with many domes and was spectacular at the time. It served as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral, a Roman Christian cathedral, and an Islamic mosque. Since 1935 it has been a museum bringing many tourists towards its great history.

EducationA reason the church split was because one believed icons should be used for education of the illiterate masses. Justinian belied strongly in a boy's education and as a result, he was well educated himself, unlike his uncle.

Justinian built a wall to keep out invaders. Here is a portion of it still standing today.
