Started as build up of ice-covered dust in the outer, solar nebula.The equatorial zones and belts rotate fast due to differential rotation.Jupiter's zones and belts are zonal jet with a velocities up to 400 miles/hr.Great Red Spot is a large cyclone twice the size of the Earth.Jupiter's darker belts are made of downward sinking material while The light colored zones are regions of moving convective currents.Eddies are stream breaking up into individual elements which then create into cyclones.Cyclones develop due to the Coriolis effect which are lower latitudes travel faster than the higher latitudes.

The Largest planet in the SS.11.3 Earth radii and 317 Earth mass.Jupiter's mean density is 1.3 gm/cc, which is close to water from the fact its far from the sun.Jupiter's composed mostly of hydrogen 90% and helium 9%.

Physical Properties

Jupiter's reds, yellows, oranges, browns colors are resulted from chemical reactions involving sulfur. Jupiter's whites and blues are resulted from CO2 and H2O ices.Fluid mechanics control detailed structure in Jupiter's atmosphere.Atmosphere is dense and cold but acts like a fluid rather than a gas.Brown ovals are low pressure cyclones at the North, while white ovals are high pressure cyclones at the South.The Great Red Spot is a high pressured cyclone that had over 600 years.The energy to power all these turblences are gained from its core.Jupiter is very flattened with a very high rotation rate (9.8 hours for one rotate).Jupiter contians a very small solid core.Jupiter's pressures and temperatures compress its gases into a liquid state.The center of Jupiter is a small rocky core that are leftover from icy dust particles.If Jupiter was more massive, it would be considered our second star because of the ignition point for thermonuclear fusion being so close.

Jupiter's magnetic field is 19,000 times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field.Gains its capture charged particles by the solar wind.Jupiter's strong magnetic field is the metallic hydrogen shell that covers Jupiter's rocky core.Contains a boundary where the magnetosphere encounters the solar wind which can be called the Magnetopause.Also contains a current sheet along the magnetic equator.Jupiter's rapid rotation shoots out charged particles into a current sheet that's surrounding the magnetic equator.Absorbs ejected ions from Io's geysers to make a plasma torus which increased its radioactivity to be very extreme.

Io- Covered with large volcanoes with a thin sulfur dioxide atmosphere. Io is generated by heat inside its center very deep.Europa-Its crust are made of water ice, with a a metallic core and a rocky mantle. The stretching of tidal friction provides enough heat to melt some liquid water beneath a thin ice shell which concluded an ocean with more than twice as much water as all of Earth's oceans all together. Tidal flexing allows water to well up and build ridgeswhich had create cracks on Europia.Callisto-The largest and heaviest cratered satellite in the SS. Its surface is icy and dates back many years ago.Ganymede-Surface is made of water ice, but shows a sign of varying age. The lighter regions show no signs of craters, but is thought that eruptions of water covered the surface before it was freezed over. Its tidal heating couldn't provide enough heat to produce an ocean of liquid water.
