The book of Joshua is the story of the fight between the Jews and the Caananites. The main story behind this book is whoever you are, don't sin, the jews are coming to get you. The reason God chose to invade Caanan is because they were a sinful country, they would kill their own kids or use them as slaves.

God commanded the jews to invade Jericho and destroy everything stolen. Unfortunately, followed by Achan, have stolen the objects but decided to keep them for themselves. Frustrated, the lord told them to cross the Jordan but double-crossed and gave them to the Amorites to be slaves.

Eleazar son of Aaron died and was buried at Gibeah, the town in the hill country of Ephraim which has been given to his son Phineas (Js 24:33)
